We consider water stress and the scarcity of water resources a crucial concern for Morocco. We devote all our efforts in setting up processes to reduce or find alternatives to our water consumption in our activity. On our 2 sites, we are working to optimize the use of every drop of water.

This optimization has been translated at CIMAT by:

• The choice of air cooling for gas cooling, a major water consumption item in cement plants.
• The installation of a closed circuit for the cooling of industrial equipment generating very low losses.
• The treatment in an activated sludge STEP of the sanitary water recovered in a dedicated network. This treated water is used for cooling and stabilizing the raw mill,
• Rainwater harvesting.

Reduction of 18% of specific water consumption in 5 years reaching 42.3l/Tons of cement in 2019.
